Ok just a few words: the above is my niece, maybe before I hit 40 in a few years I too will make the big jump.

Wow what a crazy week and I’m still coming off my Rhinebeck High.. No blog Deb and I spent the weekend again at Sheep and Wool and had an even better time than last year. We sort of ahem… crashed the Holidome party, but where made to feel VERY welcome by some of the Long Island Knitters.. What a great bunch of ladies to share their table with us.. We also chatted with many of the others that where there too and finally got to meet some Ravers in person..So here are some Pics so you can enjoy/re-enjoy the weekend:)

Another Vivian wearer. I’m so sorry I forgot your name and talked with you sat night too.I guess there where a couple other Vivian sightings but sadly I missed them:(  Someone had a surprise party for this lovely lady who LOVES purple. another pic from the holidome partyI felt so bad for those who had to sit on the hard floor but with wine and yarn it was all good. Sunday Goldilocks11 was nice to share the secret to making her adorable vest.

Can’t wait to make that.. Next up we have some random people pics. of course Rhinebeck wouldn’t be complete without some animal pics. Some pics of booths..and of course lastly my haul. I was very good this year and stayed pretty much to budget. It’s all that damn food that adds up and cuts into the fiber budget;)Ok so in the bags are ten skeins each of Chaco yarn which is what I had used to knit up Vivian. The bag on the right is going to be used for making allegheny. Not sure what the navy will be used for yet. Below the navy yarn we have a pottery mug, and Ysolda’s Whimsical Little Knits 2 book. A pattern to make a cardigan/coat with brown and white yarn below it, Blush Woobuh to make the Abigail Cardi I however will spell it Abbigayle like my daughters name:)..Two skeins of socks that rock and one skein of Harry Potter Yarn. Now I’m off to get some things done so I can hopefully cast on for Allegheny tonight..

This past weekend I was able to sneak away for a few hours with my friend no blog Deb, her daughter, and one of my daughters, to attend for the first time for us Fiber Festival. The girls where able to wander on their own (thanks to cell phone coverage) but managed to find us every half hour or so;) It was a great preview to Rhinebeck coming up in a few weeks. I was very good about not spending to much, like I said Rhinebeck is in a few weeks:)

My GoodiesI also met the designer of the book above, Cal Patch and her adorable dog GertieI really am loving her doggie bed and think Miss Stella may need one of her own. Here’s some other pics from the day…The Countdown is on and I’m desperately trying to get my Vivian done before Rhinebeck.. Not sure it will happen but still keeping my fingers crossed. Now if the day to day stuff would slow down I could get more knitting time in.. Volley girl is home sick again today so maybe a movie on the couch with her will get me some knitting time in during the daytime hours.

She played my alma-mater the other night and won!! It was weird being back in the school that I spent my school years in and to think how I was at her age now. I felt odd sitting in those stands as a parent and in awe that the gym teacher/coach was still there all these years later. The game was intense and had the longest volleys to date. Since it was a non-league game not sure if we will play them again but it was truly a special night. She even said to me after, Mom I get it now all those things you tried to explain about your time in school. Your school really is different than mine. It was exciting to see the huge support my alma mater still has, the boys soccer team where very entertaining in there cheerleading  chants, and yet it made me sad at the same time that the school my kids go to doesn’t have that support. I am so proud of this girl and she is totally holding her own as a freshmen playing on a mostly senior team and against mostly junior and senior girls. The evenings are long and late on these game nights but I wouldn’t trade them for anything.

I’ve noticed a lot of questions out there on how to make applesauce. Seriously it’s so easy. All you need are apples,  sugar for sweetening ( optional),good size pot for the stove, food mill, and bowl. You will also need jars with lids or some type of container. First you will core the apples leaving skin on. Slice apples and toss into pot for the stove. Fill that pot right to the top and cover you can add a little water to the bottom of the pot but that’s up to you, set temp no higher than med and stir often to prevent burning to the bottom. After about 15min turn temp down to a simmer. Continue cooking until all apples are soft and it’s ok if you’re starting to get a soupy consistency. Time will depend on apples used and how big you cut them. The softer the mixture the easier it will be going through the food mill. Next remove from heat and I usually place my hot pot on a cutting board. Scoop out and put in your food mill which should now be over your bowl.Once you’ve “milled “all the apples  apple sugar to taste if desired and than pour into your container of choice. I prefer mason jars of various sizes leaving head room for expansion to avoid breaking when freezing. Let the jars COMPLETELY cool before freezing and also make sure to keep one jar in the fridge for eating. This last batch was made with Cortland Apples which I’ve never used before, I usually use Macintosh. The difference I noticed is texture being thicker, color more yellow than pink, and flavor. Still very yummy though. Now on to a batch of Pumpkin Choc Chip cookies per request from the Volleyball team for an after game snack tonight.

It’s raining, cold and dreary. There’s two huge bags of apples on the kitchen table. A perfect day for some apple sauce making, apple muffins baking, some quilting and knitting. Of course that’s after all the daily domestic duties get done and a work out of 2-3miles gets run.

Schools started and times just flying by.. It needs to slow down. We’ve had the first day of school come and go. Three different schools and times make mornings craaaazzzzzyyyy. There’s been a lot of volleyball watching and cheering on for a special girl who is the ONLY freshmen on the VARSITY team. Yea where just a little proud:)The ball is never far from her side, a true love for her sport. There’s also been some construction going on so Volleyball girl can have her own bedroom/space. Can’t wait to see how that “huge” window is going look.Slow going but I’m in hopes maybe by Thanksgiving it will all be done or SOONER please..
